The Harsh Reality of Deep Healing

I truly believe that we are constantly evolving and learning throughout our life. There are lessons to be learnt and facets of ourselves to be uncovered. In the midst of this, there can be an immense amount of pressure to constantly be learning, growing, and evolving. You may begin to feel like a never-ending project. Although it may be true that there is usually some type of self-work you can do; it’s important to not fixate on completing some imaginary checklist that you need to become ‘worthy.’ You do not need to earn your worthiness. You simply already are. In this post, I want to share the reality of deep healing along with some tips for staying motivated when you hit the deep end.
We paint healing as a miraculous journey one goes on during a coming-of-age movie. The main character is last seen riding their bike into the sunset. Fade to black. Roll the credits. What we don’t often think about is the fact that healing doesn’t end at high school graduation. There are moments of lull. Moments of complete uncertainty.
“Is this the right move?”
“Is this the right path?”
All sorts of questions floating in your head. If only you could catch one or two of them.
Deep healing comes in the moments you didn’t plan. The Tuesday afternoon you would have been doing something completely different just a few months ago. You stop for a moment. Think about that time somewhere in the distant past. Let the tears fall, then go about your new normal. And in another year, it’ll be another Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday and you’ll take a moment to acknowledge where you once were.
There is no checklist to be completed. There are no grades given by God or the Universe.
Deep inner work requires you to uncover layers of yourself that you never thought possible. You will discover habits, mindset blocks, and prejudice that have infiltrated every aspect of your life without your knowledge.
“Healing is really just letting yourself feel. It is unearthing your traumas and embarrassments and losses and allowing yourself the emotions that you could not have in the moment that you were having those experiences.” -unknown
How to Stay Motivated During Tough Times
Embrace the Pace of Your Journey
“Deep and lasting healing is often slow and steady like a fall breeze. You just have to embrace the pace instead of rushing your own transformation journey.” – Dr. Mariel Buquè
Your journey has been planned since the beginning of time. Allow yourself the space to flow with the Universe’s plan.
Surrender to the Universe
When it comes to healing, there is a certain element of trust needed. If you cannot trust yourself, lean on the Universe. Give the Universe your worries and let it deal with them. You are never meant to be alone, especially on your healing journey. Your spirit helpers are always here for you.
Create Sacred Space to Allow Whatever is Meant to Come Up to Flow
Authentic healing requires a certain level of honesty in the process. It cannot be rushed or made into something that it’s not. This is why setting the intention of fostering a sacred space opens your heart to experience whatever is needing attention. Try your best to not resist what flows to the surface. Let it peek its head. Acknowledge it. And take loving action towards healing.

Find Support
Support is one of the most fundamentally important things you can do for yourself. Once again, it is a reminder that you do not have to be alone on this journey. Support can be found with friends, family, a therapist, or a spiritual guide such as myself. You can find more information about working with me here.
When the time comes to lay to rest the version of you from not so long ago, take a moment to linger. Touch the hair that you once styled a different way, laugh thinking about the phrases you used to say but don’t judge for the way you carried yourself through the world. That moment in time might be gone but their spirit lives on inside you. Make room for it to be. Let it just be.
